RAINA AVALON

Vice President of Logistics
SYSCO

Raina is currently the Vice President of Logistics for SYSCO CORP in Houston, TX. She recently joined SYSCO CORP taking on a new industry, and is very excited about the opportunity to assist the Supply Chain team in delivering value to the organization. Raina is responsible for the Inbound Logistics at Sysco, including the International trade and compliance. She is building a mentoring culture, focused on Leadership & Execution.


Raina was most recently with Family Dollar Stores, Inc. where she was responsible for the logistics & transportation area, including both domestic & international segments of the business. She has more than 25 years of experience in retail transportation & operations.  Prior to joining Family Dollar in 2006, she was employed by Dollar General Corporation where she oversaw transportation operations serving over 8500 stores.


Ms. Avalon earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the California State University at Los Angeles. She is an active member of several professional associations, including the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, where she served on the Middle Tennessee Roundtable for 7 years as Program Chair. Raina is also a member of NEW, the Network for Executive Women-Consumer Products & Retail Industry, and is also affiliated with the RILA, Retail Industry Leaders Association. Raina recently joined the WFF, Women’s Foodservice Forum, and is excited about the new customer she is serving! 




MARCIA FASCHINGBAUER

Founder & President
Excargo Services, Inc.

Marcia Faschingbauer is the president of Excargo Services Inc., a trucking company she founded in 1979 to support a family business in need of reliable transportation. Today, Excargo Services has grown into a major regional logistics firm, transporting petrochemicals, retail items, household goods, food and beverages, and building materials via truck and rail.


A native Houstonian, Marcia is committed the community.  She contributes her time and resources to the industry she loves, as well as to her passions: the arts, education and gardening.  Marcia serves on the boards of both the American Trucking Association and its Texas affiliate, TXTA. She is a TEW Woman on the Move and a Houston Community College Foundation member as well as a Mercury Houston Board member. Marcia is active in many civic and business organizations.


Marcia graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and has completed executive courses at Rice University’s Jones School and Dartmouth’s Tuck Business School.



JOY LLOYD

Founding Director of the Center for Logistics and Transportation Policy
University of Houston

Former TCH President

After retiring from 30 years in industry, which included 27 years with Lyondell Petrochemical Company, Joy joined the University of Houston as a Visiting Assistant Professor where she served as Program Coordinator for the Supply Chain and Logistics Technology program in the College of Technology.


Joy retired from UH in February, 2007, and immediately began a third career as Director of the Center for Logistics and Transportation.  The mission of the CLTP is twofold:  1) provide education and training to our current and future workforce and  2) provide research and problem-solving processes to government and industry.  After retiring a third time, she now serves as an adjunct instructor at UH as well a serving on program advisory boards.

As an active participate in logistics organizations, Joy is a Past President of the Transportation Club of Houston, the South Texas Chapter of ASTL, Delta Nu Alpha Transportation Fraternity, and the Women’s Transportation Club of Houston.   She has served on several national boards.

In 2007, Joy was named one of the “Women in Transportation” by the Journal of Commerce and Gulf Shipper.  Joy serves on the Advisory Board for Lone Star Community College and San Jacinto College and was an adjunct instructor for 13 years in the HCCS transportation program. Twice she was named Houston’s Transportation Woman of the Year.  She also serves as education liaison between the University of Houston and local supply chain organizations.



PHYLLIS SAATHOFF
Deputy Executive Director, Corporate Affairs
Port of Houston Authority

Phyllis Saathoff serves as Deputy Executive Director, Corporate Affairs for the Port of Houston Authority. This well-respected industry veteran brings to this position great depth and demonstrated ability in the management and strategic guidance of a major port.


Saathoff began her career at Port Freeport in 1992. She served as its managing director, and then in April 2012, became its Interim Executive Port Director/CEO before joining the Port of Houston Authority in October 2012.

A renowned expert in port marine emergency preparedness, Saathoff was recognized as one of the Top 10 Women in Gulf Transportation by Gulf Shipper Magazine. She is the author of the Emergency Preparedness and Continuity of Operations Planning Manual for Best Practices for ports, and is past chair of the Emergency Preparedness and Recovery working group of the American Association of Port Authorities. During her tenure at Port Freeport, Saathoff received the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association for 21 consecutive years.

Past president of the National Association of Foreign Trade Zones (2003-2005), and treasurer of the Texas Gulf Ports Association (1996-2007), Saathoff currently serves on the 2012 Port Authority Advisory Council to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).

Saathoff earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, magna cum laude from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, is a certified public accountant and is certified as a Professional Port Manager®
